D&D Direct to be broadcast on 27th Aug 2024

The next D&D Direct is set for August 27, 2024. This event promises to be a treasure trove of updates, especially for those eager to see what’s in store after the new 2024 core rulebooks hit the shelves.

One of the big highlights will be more details on “Project Sigil”, Wizards’ upcoming 3D virtual tabletop platform. If you haven’t heard, Project Sigil is shaping up to be a potential game-changer. It will offer a digital space where players can play campaigns remotely with a kind of digital game board, where characters and environments can be seen in 3D. While we’re still waiting on specifics like the release date, or the kind of visual options available, this event could finally give us a closer look at what’s in store as Wizards moves into Roll20’s space as well as other virtual tabletops.

The stream will also tease what’s coming down the line for D&D over the next several years. Chris Perkins, D&D’s chief game designer, has hinted that they’ve got plans in the works all the way through to 2027. Whether it’s new settings, adventures, or even more expansions, this is your chance to get a sneak peek at how the game will evolve. I suspect we’ll see what’s in store for adventures, settings and maybe even rules expansions (though it may be a little early for something like that). But your guess is as good as mine.

So, if you’re a D&D fan (and let’s be honest, if you’re reading this article, then you probably are), make sure to tune in. The stream kicks off at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM BST on the official D&D YouTube channel.
