The Companions of the Hall are an adventuring group that include the infamous Drizzt Do’Urden, Bruenor Battlehammer, Catti-Brie, Wulfgar and Regis. They take their name from one of their greatest victories when they defended the dwarven stronghold of Mithral Hall from an attacking army of drow from Menzoberranzan. The Mithral Hall also became something of a base of operations for the group as well as being the home of Bruenor’s people over whom he was king. Who are the Companions of the Hall?Members of the Companions of the HallDrizzt Do’UrdenGuenhwyvarKing Bruenor BattlehammerCattie-BrieWulfgarRegisJarlaxle Baenre While Drizzt’s origins began in Menzoberranzan, a terrible city of the drow found in the underdark, his adventures with the Companions of the Hall and their formation as an adventuring group, only began when Drizzt escaped his homeland to the surface. Their adventures are often intertwined with the ambitions of the matron mothers of Menzoberranzan, but they are also prolific throughout the Sword Coast, particularly in the Northern region of Icewind Dale. While not a formal member of the Companions of the Hall, Jarlaxle Baenre became a close friend of Drizzt Do’Urden and their paths often crossed including several adventures together. This meant that Jarlaxle was also an occasional member of the group. Members of the Companions of the Hall Drizzt Do’Urden Drizzt is a drow from the underdark who abandoned the evil of his people, escaping to the surface and becoming a hero. Trained by his blood father, Zaknafein, a formidable warrior in his own right, Drizzt is an exceptional swordsman, wielding a pair of scimitars in combat and being accompanied by his magical panther companion, Guenhwyvar. Drizzt is a close friend of Bruenor Battlehammer and eventually married Cattie-Brie. Learn more about Drizzt Do’Urden Guenhwyvar Guenhwyvar is Drizzt’s magical panther companion who can be summoned from a panther idol. Drizzt and Guenhwyvar share a special bond, both in combat and as friends. King Bruenor Battlehammer Bruenor is something of a fatherly figure among the group, having literally adopted Catti-Brie and Wulfgar. He is also a close friend of Drizzt’s and the 2 share a close friendship having saved one another’s lives many times. Bruenor at certain times has also been king of the dwarves of Mithral Hill. He is well-regarded as a fair and compassionate leader, though has often felt ill suited to this role. Learn more about Bruenor Battlehammer Cattie-Brie Catti-Brie is the adopted daughter of Bruenor Battlehammer and later, became the wife of Drizzt. She is also an excellent archer. Learn more about Cattie-Brie Wulfgar Wulfgar is a powerful, human barbarian, of the Elk tribe of Icewind Dale. He was adopted by Bruenor after he took mercy on him following a battle with the Ten Towns, preventing his death and instead, taking him under his wing. Regis Regis is a halfling rogue of fine taste. He is highly crafty and observant, often noticing things his companions do not. Jarlaxle Baenre A drow mercenary from Menzoberranzan and one of the few male drow to obtain great power and escape the shackles of the matriarchal drow society. Jarlaxle occassionally adventured with the group though also conflicted with the group at times as well. Jarlaxle is a roguish and manipulative character, often betraying the trusts of others to ensure he ends up on the winning side. His relationship with Drizzt in particular is an interesting one. He almost has a jealous admiration for Drizzt Similar to Jarlaxle in that he escaped the drow system but different in that Drizzt obtains the admiration for his heroics that Jarlaxle craves.
