Heliana’s Guide to Monster Hunting: Part 2 officially launched on D&D Beyond today. The release coincides with the start of a new kickstarter campaign, Heliana and Ryoko’s Guide to Mythozoology, starting off what looks to be a big year for Loot Tavern Press.
Heliana’s Guide Part 2 is converted to D&D Beyond

While Part 1 introduced players to Heliana’s monster hunting framework, Part 2 finishes the job. The new release expands the main systems that sit at the heart of the book, this includes;
- Harvesting mechanics
- Ingredient tables/trading rules
- A full cooking system with staple meals and magical recipes
These additions complete the gameplay loop that Heliana’s guide champions, where players hunt monsters, harvest resources, and convert them into rewards. This structure sets it apart from many 5e supplements, which often focus on isolated content or locations rather than interconnected systems that can be used in almost any campaign.
New player options

Part 2 also significantly expands character creation and progression options. Players gain access to new species such as the Lotol, Mycelian, Ombrask, Oozekin, and Opteran, plus a range of subclasses designed to integrate directly with the hunting system;
- Bard, College of Cuisine
- Cleric, Hunt Domain
- Ranger, Trapper
- Sorcerer, Skinshifter
- Warlock, The Parasite
There’s some really unique character options here, which will be of interest to those players looking for something totally new.
Structured monster hunts offer readymade adventures

A major highlight of the release is its collection of story driven monster hunts. Encounters such as The Shining Shrine, The Veiled Lady, A Tale of Two Tails, and Mecha Koboldzilla promise a range of adventures that will likely make use of the Kaiju rules Loot Tavern Press created.
Expanded monster options
Part 2 also introduces a wide range of new creatures, many designed with variation and scaling in mind. Notable additions include;
- Multi stage boss monsters like the Suneater Owlbear
- Variant based enemies such as Hyphans and Tar Elementals
- Mechanically unique encounters like Kobold constructs and Tar-rasques
If your party needs a break from monsters, wolves and bandits, this will be a big deal for the table.
Mythozoology Kickstarter
Alongside the digital release, Loot Tavern Press launched a new crowdfunding campaign, Heliana & Ryoko’s Guide to Mythozoology on Kickstarter.
The project promises a few new features like a kaiju summoning system, inspired by Final Fantasy where players combine their power to call forth temporary, high impact monsters. The new Maker class stands out as a significant departure from classic 5e archetypes. Unlike most non-frontline classes, the Maker does not rely on spellcasting but uses blueprints and constructed upgrades, specialising in areas like armored suits, prosthetics, or bio engineered tools.
No Loot Tavern Press supplement would be complete without new subclasses. There’s 24+ of them too, including:
- Magizoologist Wizard
- Circle of the blade druid
- Path of the calamity barbarian
- Demon fist monk
- Orochi ranger
You’ll also get 16+ new species, 30+ new spells and 40+ new feats. 100+ monsters and 16+ monster hunts.
