At Gen Con 2025, Darrington Press uncovered a wave of Daggerheart content and collaborations, including a Kickstarter for physical Class Packs, a free Homebrew Kit, a ‘romantasy’ campaign frame, new official settings by legendary designers, the return of Age of Umbra, and major partnerships with creators and brands.
Class Packs are on their way to Kickstarter (September 2025)
Many Daggerheart players had wondered how Darrington would handle expanding the class lineup, now we know – Darrington Press announced a new Kickstarter launching in September for physical Daggerheart Class Packs. These standalone decks focus on each of the nine core classes and contain:
- 76 cards per pack: ancestry, community, subclass, and two domain decks.
- Available as an add-on or standalone product.
- Backers receive a free digital Core Rulebook as a bonus.
This move caters to physical card lovers and players who want to easily onboard into Daggerheart with curated decks for quick play and customization.
The free Daggerheart homebrew kit (available right now!)
Darrington Press has officially released a free Homebrew kit giving players and creators options to:
- Build new classes, ancestries, communities, and campaign frames.
- Use the Community Gaming License (CGL) for independent or third-party publishing.
- Expand the system for tables or commercial projects.
This toolkit provides the foundation for Daggerheart’s long-term ecosystem, focused on accessibility and creator options.
With Love & Magic – a romantasy campaign frame (coming 2026)
A new romantasy themed campaign frame titled ‘With Love & Magic’ was teased for release in 2026. It’s set in the empire of Lumisara, a world centred on:
- Courtly intrigue, romantic pursuits, and magical matchmaking.
- Seasonal social maneuvering – think Bridgerton meets high fantasy.
This new frame aims to add more genre storytelling options within the Daggerheart system and is the first I’ve seen of this type of thing in mainstream TTRPG’s.
Legendary designers join the team
Two titans of tabletop RPG design are joining forces with Darrington Press:
- Jeremy Crawford (former D&D lead designer) will helm a horror-themed official setting.
- Chris Perkins (also a prolific D&D game designer) will work on a linked series of campaign frames and an extended adventure path.
Their involvement signals a big expansion in tone and narrative range for Daggerheart’s official content library.
Age of Umbra returns for season 2
Following the success of the first season, the dark fantasy actual play series Age of Umbra will return for a second season, continuing the grim, morally complex stories helmed by the Critical Role cast.
Creator and brand collaboration
Several new collaborations were also announced:
- Legends of Avantris and Dungeons & Daddies will produce Daggerheart actual play specials.
- Bonus Action is adopting Daggerheart for Volume 3 of their popular series.
- Insight Editions is producing an Art of Daggerheart hardcover book.
- Hero Forge is integrating Daggerheart ancestries into miniature customization.
- Dice brands Dispel Dice, Botch Dice, and Misty Mountain Gaming are producing official dice sets.
New setting by Keith Baker & Jenn Ellis
Renowned designers Keith Baker (Eberron) and Jenn Ellis (Illimat, The Adventure Zone Storytelling Game) are creating a new official world for Daggerheart. While details are still under wraps, early teasers hint at:
- Collaborative worldbuilding mechanics.
- Bold new player options.
- Story-first innovation in line with Baker’s prior work.
This setting is expected to debut in 2026.
Closing thoughts
With these Gen Con announcements, Daggerheart is taking some big swings to establish itself as a mainstay in the TTRPG space. I don’t think many players expected quite so much to come so fast. However Darrington is wise to give people something to look forward to, so they can stay front of mind, even while new system like the Cosmere RPG and Discworld debut.
Whether you’re a romantic, a horror fan, a dungeon-crawler, or a custom worldbuilder, Daggerheart is actively giving you something that will appeal to your niche.
